  First Proper Chat With the JWs in Almost 11 Years

  since disassociating in october 2008, i've had little to no direct contact with the jws, apart from immediate family members (ie my parents).

  i've lived in my rented flat since may 2014 and haven't had a knock on the door in that whole time.

  until saturday morning.

  Great strategy! My husband and I had many conversations thru the years we were pioneering with logical thinking people who really did make us think. We usually agreed to disagree. Mentioned it to a CO once and he refuted with the 3 H JW thing. If you aren't familiar with it, it's a version of Jehovah draws us, that says the householder has to be Humble, Hungry, and Honest to be "rightly disposed to the truth" 🙄

  I felt I was all three of those qualities- so if I am humble, I don't believe I am better than my neighbor, if I am hungry, then I am open minded to others beliefs, and if I am honest- I don't agree with the GB lying to me...so I guess that's why we faded from this high control group like many others here.

  Not invited to congregation “get togethers”. They finally said it

  we don’t get many invitations to congregational social gatherings.

  we don’t attend midweek meetings and miss about 1/3 of sunday meetings.

  we go in service at least once a month.

  Notice all the responses about this hypocrital behavior. We were told the "identifying mark of true Christians is this love amoung the brothers"

  All the rude, unloving way we and many others are and were treated is not proving that.

  This is why, after all this time of fading from this religion, I don't miss the judgy haters there at all.

  Its so refreshing to have peace without all the burdens they unnecessarily bestowed upon us!!!

  The New Diary of Winston Smith

  we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.

  fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.

  i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

  Oh How Far I've Come

  so this weekend my girlfriend and i will move into our own place together.

  it turns out that “a cord of three strands is stronger” is bullshit and two people in a relationship are perfectly capable of being happy without outside influence.

  what a journey i’ve had since leaving 3 and a half years ago!

  confused with nowhere to turn

  i'm 43 and a divorced mother of 2. in january 2019 i met the man i thought i could spend the rest of my life with.

  we were happy and even though our relationship wasn't perfect (like all relationships) i thought we had a chance and were building a life together with our young kids.

  background on me - i've been divorced since 2012 after 12 years of marriage.

  Hello, I am sorry for your pain. What you have to understand about this jw religion is simply just because he was not practicing the jw religion for so many years, doesn't mean he doesn't have the indoctrination of it still influencing him. He is what we call POMI (physically out mentally in)

  Unfortunately I'm sure he has drawn the line in the sand that he wants you to study and become a JW. A lot of jws do not fathom unconditional love. The religion demands acts of service to demonstrate devotion. So much of the jw belief system is similar to high control groups and cults. Steve Hassan has a lot of great books that discuss how to help loved ones free themselves, bottom line he has to want to mentally free himself though!

  Does anyone remember?

  so back when the borganization took over the congregations and their money when "forgiving" the loans for the mortgages, i seem to remember there was a congregation that stood up to them.

  it didn't work, of course, but they caused quite a stir.

  does anyone remember what congregation it was or any details where i could search and find more about it on here?
